The event, promoted by IbizaPreservation together with Mallorca Preservation and Menorca Preservation, is part of the ‘Weaving the Future’ project
March 21, 2016 – A total of 28 people participated this Saturday in a beach cleanup organized by IbizaPreservation at Es Codolar beach, in the municipality of Sant Josep, where approximately 132.6 kilos of waste were removed. The organization notes that the activity is part of the ‘Weaving the Future’ project, being carried out simultaneously in Ibiza, Mallorca, and Menorca in collaboration with Mallorca Preservation and Menorca Preservation.
During the activity, the volunteer group collected 7.3 kilos of glass, 79 kilos of construction debris, 27.3 kilos of plastics —such as caps and bottles, fragments of ropes and nets, fruit boxes, lighters, flip-flops or single-use cups—, in addition to 1 kilo of paper, 10 kilos of wood and 8 kilos of mixed waste.
The project is being promoted in conjunction with the Preservation group of entities and has the support of the musical group Depeche Mode and the Hublot brand through Conservation Collective.
The event, open to public participation, aims to “raise awareness about the impact of waste on the marine environment and encourage the involvement of society in the conservation of the coastline.”
