“Wear Ecological Sunscreen,” is written and narrated by Hollywood actor based in Ibiza, Ray Stevenson
The Ibiza Preservation Fund (IPF) premiered a music video on 27 June, “Wear Ecological Sunscreen.” It is written and narrated by Hollywood actor and Ibiza resident, Ray Stevenson, and co-directed by his wife, Elisabetta Caraccia, an anthropologist and IPF council member. The video has been produced by local companies Pataleta Films and Ecomedia, with music composed by Paul Powell.
The premiere is part of the events the IPF will host throughout the year to celebrate 10 years of operation to preserve Ibiza and Formentera’s environment. “Wear Ecological Sunscreen” is a homage to the famous Baz Luhrmann hit of the nineties, “Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen.”
The five-minute video draws attention to some of the islands’ environmental issues in a fun and inspirational way. It encourages viewers to save water, recycle, say no to plastic, buy local products, protect Posidonia and take care of the islands’ fragile ecosystems.
The premiere, held at Boutique Hostal Salinas, was attended by Ray Stevenson and Elisabetta Caraccia, as well as the “stars” who volunteered in the production.
“I loved being a part of this project because it addresses a subject particularly dear to my heart. If we can manage to touch and bring awareness to the incredibly varied international Ibiza community, we have, through them, the possibility of bringing a little more awareness to touch the whole world,” says Elisabetta Caraccia.
“We wanted the video to have a different narrative to communicate the islands’ many environmental issues,” says Sandra Benbeniste, the IPF’s director. “We didn’t just want to show the natural beauty and stunning landscapes of Ibiza and Formentera and the urgent need to preserve them. We also want to encourage and empower residents and tourists to lead by example to keep the islands’ healthy. We want the video to be shared by all lovers of Ibiza and Formentera,” says Benbeniste.
