Registrations open for the third ‘IbizaPreservation Family Gymkhana’ in support of local agriculture

This free activity will be held for the first time in the municipality of Ibiza next November

October 10, 2024 – The environmental foundation IbizaPreservation announces the third edition of its family gymkhana , which will be held on Sunday, November 10 in Talamanca from 10:00 to 13:00 . Participation is free, but prior registration is required through the website sportsmaniacs.com before November 8 at 10:00.

The funds raised at this event will go to the ‘ Eivissa Sembra Futur’ project , focused on supporting the island’s agricultural farms by planting local varieties of fruit trees resistant to climate change. The project is developed within the Ibiza Produce program , with which IbizaPreservation seeks to strengthen the island’s primary sector and contribute to the regeneration of its soils and landscapes as well as to highlight local products and organic and regenerative agriculture.

A family awareness activity

This is the third edition of this event, which has already established itself within the island’s calendar of family events after more than 150 children and their families participated last year. The gymkhana, designed as an orienteering race , will once again challenge teams to use a map to find and solve 12 environmental questions spread out along the route in the shortest time possible. Each team can be made up of between two and three people, always with at least one adult.

“We are very excited to once again celebrate this gymkhana, which not only brings families together in a fun and awareness-raising activity, but also supports a fundamental project for the sustainability of the island. We expect a great turnout this year as well, after having completed registrations in the previous two years and 300 people having had the opportunity to participate in a fun and educational day that has been very well received,” says Inma Saranova , director of IbizaPreservation.

In addition to having fun with the family and learning about the environment, the three teams with the best score and time will receive a basket of local products as a prize. And if that were not enough, all participants who complete the route will also participate in the draw for a family excursion with Balearic Outdoor Adventures, a gift card from La Sirena and two Burger Meet Gin menus at Ocean Drive Ibiza . “The aim of this event is to promote fun and exercise with the family, while highlighting local Ibizan produce and exploring Talamanca beach and its surroundings,” explains Juanjo Torres, CEO of Blue Ibiza Challenge.

The activity also has the collaboration of other local companies and entities such as La Sirena, OD Hotels, Eléctrica Mari, Trasmapi and Fundación Julián Vilás. The logistics of the event will be facilitated by Ibiza Blue Challenge , where its founder Juanjo Serra reminds us that the event is suitable for all ages, so both Blue Challenge and IbizaPreservation trust that many people will be encouraged to participate this year as well.
