IbizaPreservation’s Family Fun Day opens registration for its 2025 edition, this year dedicated to biodiversity

The free community event, organised in collaboration with Ibiza Blue Challenge and supported by the Balearic Government, will take place on 9 November in Cala de Bou

Ibiza, 21 October 2025 – Registration is now open for the 2025 edition of the IbizaPreservation Family Fun Day, via the platform sportmaniacs.com. This free activity, open to participants of all ages, will take place from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday 9 November, starting from the recreational area of Cala de Bou, in the municipality of Sant Josep. Teams may consist of two or three people, with at least one adult per group.

This year’s event focuses on local biodiversity, with particular emphasis on the vital role of pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Organised by the environmental foundation in collaboration with Ibiza Blue Challenge, the Family Fun Day will feature an orienteering course where teams must locate and solve 12 clues scattered around the area, using a map provided at the start.

While participation remains entirely free of charge, for each team that completes the course, IbizaPreservation will make a charitable donation to a local NGO supporting people affected by the recent floods on the island.

“We want families to have fun while learning about biodiversity, but also for the day to serve as a way to support the community. Given the impact of the recent rains, it felt essential for this edition to include a charitable element for those affected,” said Inma Saranova, Director of IbizaPreservation.

The three fastest teams will receive a basket of delicious local treats made with bee-related products, and all groups completing the course will automatically be entered into a raffle for several surprise prizes donated by the foundation’s partners.

The 2025 IbizaPreservation Family Fun Day is supported by the Town Hall of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia and funded by a grant from the Department of Agriculture, Fishing and Environment of the Balearic Regional Government. Several local companies and organisations, including Trasmapi, Fundación Julián Vilás Ferrer, OD Group, La Sirena, Eléctrica Marí, Soul Water and Cebo, are also partnering in the event.

The meeting point will be located next to the Cala de Bou library, where bibs and maps will be available for collection between 10:00 and 12:30. Each team may begin the course at any time within that window, with an estimated duration of one to two hours, depending on their pace. The event will conclude at 2:00 p.m.

“We want everyone, regardless of age or fitness level, to be able to enjoy this outdoor experience,” explained Juanjo Serra, founder of Ibiza Blue Challenge, who added that the course has been designed to be “accessible, educational and participatory, encouraging teamwork and respect for the environment.”

The organisers emphasised that the event is a non-competitive activity, designed to promote environmental education, active living, and ecological and social awareness. Participants are advised to wear sports clothing and footwear, bring water, and carry at least one mobile phone per team, the number of which must be provided upon registration.
