IbizaPreservation launches an environmental treasure hunt to engage all generations in protecting nature

The family-friendly challenge will take place on Sunday 30th October, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. next to the Santa Eulària Conference Centre

Santa Eulària des Riu, 17th October 2022 – IbizaPreservation has today joined forces with Santa Eulària des Riu Town Hall and sporting events organiser Ibiza Blue Challenge to launch the first IbizaPreservation Treasure Hunt, a communal activity that will take place in the municipality next Sunday, 30th October.

The event is conceived as a family-oriented day out with an environmentally themed educational approach. The challenge consists of an orienteering style search for clues with the help of a map, with teams working in pairs made up of a child and an adult or two adults. The objective is to complete the course in the fastest time possible, identifying and solving the hidden clues that pose questions on the environment and conservation.

“It was the pandemic, after so many months stuck at home, that inspired the idea of putting together an event that would bring the community together in a fun, face-to-face activity,” explained Kate Benyon-Tinker, Communications Manager at IbizaPreservation, during the press conference held at the Town Hall this morning. “Through this participatory and totally free activity, we hope to raise awareness even among the youngest in our society about environmental issues and encourage everyone to take steps towards a more sustainable future,” added Benyon-Tinker.

For her part, Santa Eulària’s Environment Councillor, Mónica Madrid, emphasised the importance of environmental education: “One of the biggest challenges in this area is creating awareness. Supporting activities like these, the aim of which is to be fun and reach a lot of people, is therefore very important to us. We want to express our thanks for the opportunity to work together in holding the Treasure Hunt here in our municipality.”

The competition is sponsored by Herbusa, La Sirena, Aguas de Ibiza, Eroski, and the Los Gallegos butcher shop, as well as La Bella Verde, the latter offering an excursion for four people aboard their sailboat, Sara of the Seas. The winner of this eco-friendly sailing experience will be drawn from all the teams that finish the circuit.

The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 30 in the surrounds of Santa Eulària Conference Centre. “The course takes anything from 40 minutes to 2 hours to complete and is suitable for all ages as each team can set its own pace. We will also offer two courses of different levels of difficultly for those with younger children,” added Juanjo Serra from Ibiza Blue Challenge, which is facilitating the organisation of the event.

Entry is free and with prior registration through sportmaniacs.com before 10:00 a.m. on Friday 28th October.
