The Foundation’s annual charity dinner took place at Beachouse with around 150 guests who enjoyed a vegan menu
Ibiza, 13th August 2024 – IbizaPreservation yesterday reached its goal of raising 150,000 euros during its 2023 charity dinner, held for the second consecutive year at Beachouse in Platja d’en Bossa. This amount, needed to help cover the annual expenses of the Foundation’s environmental programmes, was achieved thanks to the support of the approximately 150 attendees, in an evening marked by a shared commitment to the wellbeing of the islands.
Kimia Rah was the master of ceremonies for the event, at which Chairman Philip Muelder and Director Inma Saranova both spoke. The pair expressed their gratitude to the attendees and highlighted that, since its creation in 2008, IbizaPreservation has raised more than 4 million euros, supported more than 60 environmental projects and achieved important milestones such as the elimination of 30 tons of plastic or the planting of 2,500 trees.
In addition, Serena Cook, co-founder of IbizaPreservation, emphasised the importance of the donations to “be able to continue the work of the foundation,” stressing that “they will be used to fund projects that help regenerate Ibizan soil, promote the circular economy, protect Posidonia seagrass and marine biodiversity, and help native species such as the Ibizan lizard, to thrive.”
Among the attendees were also the Foundation’s ambassadors: Andrés Rodríguez, editor of Spainmedia, whose media outlets include Forbes Spain and Tapas Magazine; journalist and writer Juan Suárez; and public relations expert Carlos Martorell.
A date with the environment
The evening began with a cocktail reception on the beach, during which an assortment of welcome canapés were served, and the magician Jiroh surprised guests with his tricks. After the reception, attendees were invited to take their seats to enjoy a dinner with a vegan menu specially prepared for the occasion. The Foundation highlighted the importance of choosing plant-based options, underlining that “eating less meat is better for the planet as this option emits less greenhouse gases, uses less water, land and energy, and reduces deforestation and the loss of biodiversity worldwide.”
Guests were given goodie bags provided by some of the event’s sponsors, including a small jar of Sal de Ibiza; a refillable bath kit from the Amatrius natural cosmetics line; a voucher for free admission to Club Chinois, redeemable during the season; and a Beachouse fan.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of Island Hospitality, the company that owns Beachouse and Club Chinois. “Our partnership with IbizaPreservation reflects our shared values of sustainability and love for Ibiza. Together, we are working to protect and regenerate its unique environment, ensuring that future generations can enjoy its splendour,” said Sofija Mehta, founder of Island Hospitality.
The evening was also supported by a wide range of sponsors who, year after year, help contribute to the success of the gala. These include Can Rich, Bacardi, Alhambra, Marqués de Riscal, Ibizkus, Familia Marí Mayans and Informático de Ibiza. Deliciously Sorted provided production support, while The Shop Productions was the event’s official production partner.
