IbizaPreservation joins forces with Jondal restaurant and Club Chinois to hold a charity evening in aid of the foundation.
Ibiza, 25 August 2022 – IbizaPreservation has raised €50,000 in a single night to help support its environmental projects, thanks to a charity evening held on Tuesday night in collaboration with Jondal restaurant and the newly opened Club Chinois in Marina Botafoch.
Around 150 people attended the dinner at Jondal, Chef Rafa Zafra’s exclusive beach restaurant, which held an exclusive evening opening to welcome supporters of the foundation. A five-course menu of fish and seafood was served to diners, along with a selection of drinks provided by partners including Marqués de Riscal, Ibizkus, Bodegas Can Rich, Familia Marí Mayans, Ibosim, and Soul Water.
Attendees included the fashion designers Ozwald Boateng and Charo Ruíz, the ex-Formula 1 racing driver Nico Rosberg, PR guru Carlos Martorell, and the editor of Spainmedia group, whose publications include Forbes Spain and Tapas magazine, Andrés Rodríguez.
In their opening speeches, Ibiza Preservation’s president, Philip Muelder, and Executive Director, Inma Saranova, outlined some of the foundation’s key achievements via its four strategic projects – Plastic Free Ibiza and Formentera, Ibiza Produce, the Sustainability Observatory and the Posidonia protection project – and thanked the participants for their generosity. They also expressed their appreciation for all those who have supported the organisation in its 14-year history.
“The success of this fundraiser shows the growing interest in environmental protection in general and in the work of IbizaPreservation in particular,” said Saranova, who added that she was, “extremely grateful both to the individuals who have donated towards the foundation’s work over the years, as well as to the companies that have chosen to partner with us.”
In addition to the €38,000 raised through ticket sales, the evening also raised a further €2,250 thanks to additional one-off donations, as well as more than €10,000 raised via a raffle, whose prizes included meals and overnight stays in luxury restaurants and hotels in Ibiza, as well as designer clothes and works of art.
The event continued with an after-party at Club Chinois, which partnered with IbizaPreservation to offer free admission and a drink to its dinner guests. The club has also pledged to donate a percentage of Tuesday night’s ticket sales to the foundation.
“We are delighted to support IbizaPreservation on their mission to preserve our wonderful Island and are pleased they chose to partner with us for their charity evening,” said Sofija Mehta, co-founder of Island Hospitality, the team behind Club Chinois. “It’s also great to know that we have assisted in raising money for such a worthy cause and will continue to do so,” she added.
All proceeds from the evening will go to the foundation’s work to protect and regenerate the natural resources of Ibiza and Formentera.
