On the 7th of September a series of workshops will be held in Ibiza Town to educate, raise awareness and bring sustainability to Ibiza’s residents
Ibiza, 5 September 2022 – Under the slogan, ‘Waste prevention today, for a more resilient tomorrow’, IbizaPreservation , with the support of the Consell of Ibiza, is organising a series of workshops for the local community this coming Wednesday, 7th September, focusing on the issue of waste reduction.
This event is being held under the banner of two of the foundation’s key projects, Plastic Free Ibiza and Ibiza Produce, and is supported by a grant for the prevention, reuse, and recycling of waste from the Consell’s Environment Department.
Kicking off at 10 a.m. at the Hotel Royal Plaza in IbizaTown, the event will consist of a series of talks given by experts, entrepreneurs and local associations working with innovative initiatives and ideas to achieve a more sustainable island. With a focus on waste reduction and the circular economy, this conference aims to address the problems generated by waste production in a fun and practical way and propose solutions that can be implemented on a day-to-day basis.
“The idea is to share practical solutions for a more sustainable and waste-free life. We want to involve Ibiza’s residents in the fight against food waste and plastic pollution by providing them with ideas for substituting everyday products with more eco-friendly alternatives and offering suggestions as to how they can help better protect Ibiza’s environment,” said Inma Saranova, director of the environmental foundation.
The programme includes talks by: Sofía Ribas, founder of (Ma), Sustainable Transformation Lab; Giada Forneris, creator of Plústic Lab; and Nadege Seguín and Luca Criscuolo of the local and sustainable clothing brand Etikology, among others. Each talk will last one hour and attendees will be offered the opportunity to debate with the speakers and ask questions in order to identify more sustainable daily habits.
IbizaPreservation has worked for many years to promote a more circular economy through its strategic projects: Plastic Free Ibiza and Formentera, which promotes the Plastic Free Balearics certification and works closely with institutions, businesses and citizens to promote the reduction and reuse of waste; and Ibiza Produce, which focuses on local produce and solutions to prevent food waste.
The event programme can be consulted via @ibizapreservation’s social networks. The event is free of charge and does not require sign-up in advance.
